Car collages were created for energy, Lukumi/Yoruba Oricha Ogun, the energy of all iron and steel, the owner of all things iron and steel, the clearer of roads and paths as well as its vehicles, cars, and railroads.
Antique playful relics were appropriated, re-visioned, and remixed into spiritual elekes, beaded necklaces, with Ogun-car medallions. The images and objects re-present transit, motion, in microcosm, encoding communication of the African Trans Atlantic Spirits in object, color, rhythm, word, image and text… Spiritual Vehicles. 1. “Translations: Ogun in Transit” Mix Media Collage Series, 20”x40” 2.
